About Zach Holmes

Zach Holmes has been a professional photographer for 9 years. Recently one of his landscape images could be seen on display at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C. He regularly works with the top publishers in the US and abroad and at any given time has 3000-4000 images on the desktops of clients. Zach’s current image files holds over 65,000 images in 35mm, Medium and Large Formats and an additional 85,000 digital images. It is growing all the time. He is currently represented by Alamy Images in the United Kingdom who handle 80% of his international stock image sales. As a writer, Zach has written articles freelance or on assignment for Northwest Travel, PhotoLife (Canada), Petersen’s Photographic, Amateur Photographer (UK) and many other national and international magazines. Prior to his career behind a camera, Zach spent 8 years in Army Special Operations serving in 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment as a squad leader and at Army Ranger School as a Senior Leadership and Mountaineering Instructor. After leaving the Rangers in 1997 and while building his professional photography business he worked as a mountain guide, a raft guide, a carpenter and a Production Manager at Microsoft Corp. Currently Zach lives aboard a sailboat in John Wayne Marina just outside of Sequim, Washington and is preparing to sail around the world solo.
